Faculty, staff or instructor problems

The Office of the Ombudsman is a safe place to bring your concerns, evaluate your situation, organize your thoughts and identify your options. The Office operates with strict confidentiality and keeps no records identifying visitors. The Office of the Ombudsman does not get involved in or report to any formal processes or conduct formal investigations. The Office of the Ombudsman is independent and impartial. Contact the Ombudsman if you need help mediating disputes and resolving disagreements. All of the Ombudsman's services and guidance are available to faculty, staff, students and anyone else who has a concern that is related to Binghamton University.

Each of our on-campus communities has a collegiate professor or faculty-in-residence who can help students navigate the complexities of college and life by connecting them to resources, programs, mentors and opportunities across campus. Each has in-person office hours in their communities:

Title IX protects students from all forms of sex discrimination, including sexual assault, sexual harassment and discrimination based on gender identity. Individuals are encouraged to contact the Title IX coordinator with questions and/or to file a complaint.

The Dean of Students CARE Team (Consultation, Advocacy, Resources/Referrals and Education) is available to help students with a variety of issues. The CARE Team works to empower students and attend to their needs holistically through education and personal development. The CARE team supports and helps students find a path to success. Case managers often help students find solutions to complex problems and help students cope with complex situations. The case manager works with the student to identify their struggles and potential solutions by discussing resources. The CARE Team also coordinates the 20:1 Interpersonal Violence Prevention Program peer education internship.

The Decker Division of Advising and Academic Excellence serves undergraduate and graduate students from inquiry through graduation. Students are encouraged to utilize walk-in advising; view the Decker events calendar for a full list of dates, times and locations.
